Belfer Audio Archive's 50th birthday

The Belfer Audio Archive at Syracuse University is celebrating its 50th anniversary. From October 31 to November 2, 2013, a series of interlinked concerts, film screenings, lectures and seminars will celebrate the anniversary, promoting the Belfer’s rich heritage illuminating the importance of recorded sound to music-making in the twentieth century, and the legacy of those practices on music today.

The Association for Recorded Sound Collections invites proposals for presentations at its 48th annual conference, to be held May 14-17, 2014, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

ARSC welcomes papers on the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. We seek papers and panels that are informative, display a passion for their subjects, and include compelling audio and visual content.

AMIA/DLF Hack Day

AMIA will host its first ever hack day on November 6, 2013 during the AMIA 2013 Conference in Richmond, VA. The event will be a unique opportunity for practitioners and managers of digital audiovisual collections to join with developers and engineers for an intense day of collaboration to develop solutions for digital audiovisual preservation and access. It will be fun and practical…and there will be prizes! This year's hack day is a partnership between AMIA and the Digital Library Federation.
