Past IASA President Ulf Scharlau (1943 - 2021)

Ulf Scharlau, a former President of IASA, has died. We send our condolences to his family and loved ones. And it is with sincere gratitude that, as we share the sad news of his passing, we also acknowledge his service to IASA. Ulf served on its Executive Board as Treasurer from 1978-1984, as President from 1984-1987 and as Past President from 1987-1990.

Have you signed up to IASA’s mailing list?

IASA's public email list is open to anyone including non-members of IASA. It serves to exchange information about IASA and about the universe of professional sound and audio-visual archiving, and it allows subscribers to seek advice from others.

The list was migrated to a new platform in December 2020. Some subscribers to the old IASA list have not yet signed up to new one. Signing up is necessary, even if you were a subscriber before, to ensure you can post to the list, and read messages from others.

Further changes to IASA's mailing list

IASA's public mailing list was moved to a Google group in September. It has however become necessary to use a new platform, so the list has been migrated again, this time to a new service hosted by IONOS, the web hosting company used by IASA.

The list address itself is unchanged: list@iasa-web.org

2020 World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

This year's theme: "Your Window to the World"

Add your event!

The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage - 27 October - is a key initiative for both UNESCO and the Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations (CCAAA) to honour audiovisual preservation professionals and institutions that safeguard our heritage for future generations. Around the world audiovisual archives join together annually on this day to celebrate their work with events that not only highlight the vulnerability of these valuable materials, but also to celebrate the often unheralded work of the institutions that provide protection and preservation, ensuring their availability in the future.

This year, the theme of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is "Your Window to the World".
