IASA MEMBER VOTE: Move to Approve New Committees

Dear IASA Members,

In preparation for the Conference General Assembly on 27 October 2020 15.00-17.30 GMT, I am writing to inform and request your approval of two items that I will propose and discuss at the General Assembly. As our GA is virtual this year, I am sending you this message in advance to streamline the voting process. The Executive Board seeks approval to create two new committees. All current IASA committees and sections are focused on the field of audiovisual archiving. We seek to create two new committees that support the operations and agenda of IASA itself.

The two items for which we are requesting your vote are the following:

  1. The Executive Board of IASA established a Diversity Task Force to examine issues regarding inclusivity in IASA. Based on the Task Force’s findings, the Executive Board of IASA seeks approval to form a new committee related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. If approved, an open meeting of the Diversity Task Force will convene at the 2020 conference to elect a chair, vice-chair, and secretary, to formalize the committee’s name, and to work on a framework to serve IASA through oversight and outreach.
  2. The IASA Ambassador Programme was established in 2017 “to increase awareness of IASA and its work, to promote membership, to act as a mentor to new and prospective members, and to help build IASA’s profile.” In an effort to streamline the Ambassador’s operations and to better maintain momentum for Ambassador initiatives, The Executive Board of IASA seeks approval to establish the Ambassador Programme as a formal IASA committee. If approved, an open meeting of the Ambassadors will convene at the 2020 conference to determine the feasibility of becoming a committee. If feasible, they will elect a chair, vice-chair, and secretary, and to begin refining the Programme’s structure and agenda of outreach.

Please go to https://www.iasa-web.org/2020-vote-new-committees and submit your vote. You will need to be an active member with login privileges to vote. We will tally the vote at the close-of-day, 22.30 GMT, 27 October.
