Collection Management

Everyone is discussing digitisation, mass storage systems and management of digital collections but the physical documents themselves, the originals, which still constitute the greatest part of our archives, are often forgotten. In this tutorial will be discussed the archiving of physical audiovisual documents, the storage conditions, the organisation, the preparation for digitisation. The Collection Management can not be considered as an isolated duty of function. It is an activity which is and must be connected with all other activities in an archives, like preservation, prioritisation and digitisation and the respective policies.
