A one-day seminar addressing issues in contemporary archiving for record labels, archives, institutions and individuals.

Beginning with a presentation of the British Library’s perspective on cutting-edge audio archiving techniques, delegates will hear from the experts how to best preserve, conserve and transfer sound recordings from physical to digital. The British Library’s pilot digital music deposit project for archiving contemporary releases will be introduced by its creators.

Europeana Sounds project is launched

A new project launched this week, Europeana Sounds, will bring together online, for public access, over a million sound and associated digitised items from leading audio archives and libraries across Europe.

Europeana Sounds is funded by the European Union under its ICT Policy Support Programme as part of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programm.

The project will last for three years. IASA will help to ensure the sustainability of the network that will be created during the project by creating a European section. More details on the project:
