New Challenges in the audiovisual archiving digital domain
Dear Colleagues,
A reminder that registration is open for the FIAT/IFTA Media Management Seminar 2011 being held in Toronto next month, May 26th and 27th.
Changing Sceneries Changing Roles Part V: “New Challenges in the audiovisual archiving digital domain” is a two day seminar hosted by FIAT/IFTA member Groupe Média TFO – (Télévision éducative et culturelle de l’Ontario français ) in partnership with Ryerson University, taking place at the University in Downtown Toronto.
The event is Sponsored by Front Porch Digital
The Theme:
Almost all areas concerning Audiovisual Archives and archiving are rapidly changing. During previous Changing Sceneries Changing Roles seminars, we have focused on different areas that obviously were changing, like new production workflows, selection etc.
In this seminar we will try to get an overview of the changes in both traditional and new archiving tasks. We will also try to put this into perspective of how the roles for the archivist might change.
The first day we will discuss new issues in the more traditional Archive field like storage, preservation, selection, metadata and access.
The second day will focus more on New Media, new publication processes, social media, tagging, conversion and consequently new archiving challenges.
At the end of the seminar we will exemplify new working fields and demands for the Archivist which are now emerging within audiovisual archives.
This is the first time the seminar is being held in North America. Hope to see you there.
