WIAMIS 2013: The 14th International Workshop on Image and Audio Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services
Dear colleagues,
We hereby announce the 14th International Workshop on Image and Audio Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services (WIAMIS 2013), which will be held in Paris, France, 3rd-5th July 2013. WIAMIS 2013 is a peer reviewed technical scientific workshop, aiming at bringing together researchers and developers from academia and industry working in the areas of image, video and audio applications, with a special focus on analysis.

Intellectual property: new EU rules for orphan works
on 4 October 2012, the European Council adopted a directive establishing a legal framework aimed at improving access to and digitisation of orphan works across the EU. Orphan works are works (such as books, newspapers, magazines, audio recordings, films, etc.) that are protected by copyright but whose owners cannot be identified or found.

The 69th FIAF (International Film Archive Federation) Congress is taking place in Barcelona from 21-27 April 2013. The theme of the Symposium is “Multiversions".

The EU has launched a new, trilingual website called Med-Mem (www.medmem.eu) aimed at promoting Euro-Mediterranean heritage through audiovisual archives from the region's public televisions.
With some 4,000 audiovisual documents available to the public free of charge, Med-Mem - 68% co-funded by the European Union as part of the Euromed Heritage IV programme - is the largest online video archive library devoted to the historic, cultural and tourism heritage of the Mediterranean.
