UNESCO World Day for AV Heritage is approaching

The UNESCO World Day for AV Heritage is approaching. The following information comes from the CCAAA, and May Yu, the IFLA Representative for the UNESCO World Day. Could you please inform your members accordingly and encourage them to let us know of their activities?

The official theme for 2010 World Day is "Save and Savour Your Audiovisual Heritage - Now!"

The Coordinating Council of Audio-Visual Archives Associations (CCAAA), which designated by UNESCO as the lead implementing body to organize the yearly celebration, once again, is putting up a special website for the joint use of the different Non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The website address is: http://archives.pia.gov.ph/wdavh2010/.

The website welcomes contributions on the following:

  • News articles on events/activities for the wdavh celebration
  • AV documents for the listening/viewing pleasure of the visitors
  • Promotional/publicity materials on the wdavh
  • Write-ups on Preservation and Access Program
  • Feature articles related to the theme
  • Relevant sites to visit for technical information about preservation know-how

You may email your contributions to world.day.avh@gmail.com or leb_47@yahoo.com. Please also include Janet Topp Fargion, IASA's Editor, in your eMail: editor@iasa-web.org so they can be added to IASA's WDAVH page: www.iasa-web.org/world-day-audiovisual-heritage
