Scholars & Artists in Residence at NFSA - call for applications

2013 Scholars and Artists in Residence
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Closing date, COB, FRIDAY 31 AUGUST 2012
SCHOLARS
Are you an academic, an artist, a performer or a professional working in the audio visual area? The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) invites proposals from people who wish to conduct research into the national audiovisual collection.

We expect that the research outcomes of the Scholars and Artists in Residence [SAR Fellows] will increase awareness about the NFSA throughout the scholarly, artistic and broader community, both nationally and internationally.

It is desirable that the research align with the NFSA’s research and project themes and activities outlined in the General Information for Applicants at http://www.nfsa.gov.au/research

The NFSA Research fellowships offer:
Facilitated access to the national collection of 1.7 million items
Close collaboration with NFSA curatorial and technical experts;
Access to the library;
Onsite accommodation and fully equipped work space in the NFSA residence in Canberra
Free entry to Arc cinema and other NFSA events

Preference will be given to those applicants who identify an unbroken research period and who present a fresh interpretation of the National Collection

SAR Fellows will be required to produce the following outcomes:
A presentation to staff and invited guests
Research Report and Evaluation of residency
A curated clip/sound bite and/or research essay for upload to the Research Pages of the NFSA internet

Other outcomes, such as events, presentations and further publication platforms can be negotiated.

Applications for SAR Fellowships are invited for periods of between four and eight weeks between February and mid-December 2013. Applications close on Friday 31st August 2012 and notifications will commence Friday October 5th.
