IASA website now in 52 languages!

A new 'Translate' tool has been added to the IASA website today, so readers can read the website in their own language. Your language may be selected in the new Translate block on the right hand margin of this web page. The tool is powered by Google's free translate service and supports 52 languages.

Please bear in mind that the translation is an automated, 'on-the-fly' process. It often produces a very inaccurate translation, so should only be used as a general guide, and for that reason it's disabled on the online publications and some other pages. To see the 'official' version of a translated IASA website text, please switch to English. Note: the website's site search only searches the original English version.

Forums:

The translation tool has now been removed from our site. Following feedback from members, we've decided that despite its convenience, it's a bit too rough-and-ready, and on balance it is better to instead provide accurate and proof-read translations of selected pages in IASA's four main languages (English, French, German and Spanish). We'll prepare these over the coming weeks.

If you wish to continue using Google's automated translation tool, either use Google's Chrome web browser, which automatically offers translations in 58 languages, or just paste the address of any IASA page into the box on this page: http://translate.google.com/

Update: the body text for a few pages (e.g. http://www.iasa-web.org/about-iasa) is now available in a choice of English, Spanish and German languages. Thanks to Margarida Ullate Estanyol, Albrecht Haefner & Dietrich Schuller for the translations. In addition, control text (such as for logging in) is now presented in English, German, French and Spanish. Please bear with us as we gradually add more translations in these languages.

Update: the 'control text' (for logging in etc) has been removed because the site's underlying multilingual engine was causing problems for a few users. e.g. breaking links between pages. About 10 webpages are now presented in German and Spanish versions, and we hope to provide the same pages in French soon.
