IASA-SEAPAVAA Joint Conference ARCHIVAL GEMS SCREENING- Deadline Extended: 29th of August
The Archival Gems Screening is a highlight of SEAPAVAA’s annual conferences. It provides conference participants with an opportunity to showcase treasures from their collections and share their preservation efforts. For the IASA-SEAPAVAA Joint Conference in September 2025, the Archival Gems will be screened onsite and there will be no virtual or online components. For your information, this is not a venue for showcasing restorations (e.g., before-and-after and split-screen demos), demonstrating specific tools or techniques. The presenter is free to briefly describe the technical specifics of the screening (ie, “This was transferred from a mouldy 2” Quad tape that needed to be cleaned 6 times” or "This is a 4k restoration of a 35mm print), but the content is the most important element of the screenings.
The Archival Gems will take place following the Opening Reception of the IASA-SEAPAVAA Joint Conference on 12th September 2025 at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa Campus Center Complex.
- Submitted footage that meets the requirements for the Archival Gems Screening will be screened directly following the Opening Ceremony.
- The footage submitted should not exceed 5 minutes. Participants will also provide a brief (1-2 minutes maximum) introduction.
- If the footage is not in English, English subtitles must be available.
- The footage must be copyright-cleared for screening.
- The footage will be screened as it is i.e., no edits will be made to the footage.
- The contributor may insert a watermark on the submitted footage as long as the watermark does not obstruct the footage completely.
