BBC sound effects library now free online for personal, educational, research uses

A BBC sound effects library is now available online in PCM WAV format for free download for personal, educational, research & non-commercial use.

Covering 16,000 clips - sounds of transport, weather, nature sounds, human sounds. From the mundane to the bizarre, doors closing, sounds of people cheering, or "1 man constant walking up sharp incline of loose stone". There is even one track made in my institution: "British Library reading room with passing footsteps and voices, book trolley passes at 5'50""
