POSITION TITLE: Processing Archivist
DEPARTMENT: Archives
REPORTS TO: Assistant Executive Vice President of Global Archives
The JDC Archives seeks a processing archivist with text and multimedia archives experience to join the New York archives staff and to take on several ongoing projects, including an oral history digitization and access project.
I. RESPONSIBILITIES
-processing and cataloging large text collections
-processing and cataloging multimedia collections
-managing oral history digitization and access project
-supervising project technician during oral history project
-creating web-based feature highlighting oral history collection
-contributing to departmental web publications, exhibits, etc.
II. JOB SPECIFICATIONS
A. SKILLS NEEDED:
-experience processing and cataloging textual collections required
-experience processing and cataloging multimedia collections required
-digital audio editing experience preferred
-experience with MS Office required
B. EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
-MLS/MLIS with archival concentration required
-advanced training in audiovisual archives preferred
-audio editing experience required
-database management training preferred
-interest in and knowledge of Jewish history preferred
