Gramophone Museum and Records Archive seminar

Dear friends,
 
Our gramophone museum and records archive is celebrating it’s very first anniversary on 25th January 2016. It is indeed a suitable occasion for like-minded enthusiasts like us to have a get together, right inside the museum! Hence, a two day Seminar cum practical workshop program has been scheduled for the 24th & 25th January 2016.

 The following topics have been outlined for 1½ days commencing 24th afternoon:
 
1) Gramophone Records & Machines- types, care, working, experiences, etc – Workshop & Papers
2) Important artistes - Paper presentation
3) Labels / history of record companies - Paper presentation
4) Digitization/ Archiving/ Archive institutions or repositories – Workshop & Paper
5) The role of gramophone records in the formation of Indian Union.
   (Anniversary of the Museum coincides with the Republic Day of India) -Paper
 
Please note:
1- Maximum of two papers will be selected by us for each topic.
Paper allotment will be on first-come-first-served basis.
 
2- Suggested duration is 20-60 minutes. Delegates who wish to present paper(s) should confirm their chosen subject and its duration before 10th December 2015. Abtract to be sent by 31st December 2015.

3- Charges: Full Registration fee of Rs. 5000 (US $ 80) is applicable for the event (inclusive of seminar, food & shared accommodation at the venue for 2 days & 3 nights).
Fees for non-resident attendee (seminar only) is Rs.500 for 2 days / Rs.300 for a single day. Delegates presenting papers may request for exemption from payment of registration fees.

4- Travel info: Nearest International Airport (Cochin) is only 75 km from the Museum. Railway stations nearby are Kottayam (37 km) and Ernakulam (75 km).

5- Make your visit to Kerala, "God's Own Country" a memorable event! There are hill stations, wild life sanctuaries, backwaters and beaches within a radius of 100 kilometers. The meadows of Vagamon (a mini hill-station) at a height of 1000 meters above MSL are only 25 km from the Museum and worth a visit.
