The Carl Fleischhauer Award 2023 Recipient: Ezekiel Korley

The IASA Executive Board is pleased to announce that Ezekiel Korley is the 2023 recipient of the Carl Fleischhauer Award.

The Carl Fleischhauer Award was created in recognition of Carl Fleischhauer's legacy of patience, persistence, and commitment to guiding the development and deployment of IASA preservation standards and best practices. The Award is given to individuals who embody the qualities of Fleischhauer's legacy by demonstrating a thoughtful and intentional commitment to advancing the dialogue of audiovisual preservation. The Award consists of a five-year IASA membership to support the recipient's learning, engagement, and professional development.

Ezekiel is a sound archivist at the Music Library of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, where he’s been involved in audio preservation projects for many years, facing multiple hardships, including lack of funding, maintaining obsolete equipment, and raising awareness for audiovisual preservation. Ezekiel is an ardent advocate for preserving audiovisual heritage in Africa, training younger generations of technicians, sharing his work among the international community, and continuing his preservation tasks.

Funding for this award is generously provided by George Blood Audio/Video/Film/Data.

Please join in congratulating our colleague and friend Ezekiel Korley and Carl Fleischhauer, in whose name the prize is awarded!
