Call for presentations for IASA Conference 2022

Archives of the Future: Open, Sustainable and Equitable

Call for Presentations

Deadline: 31 March 2022

The IASA Annual Conference 2022 will be held both face to face and online, from 26th to 29th September. This year we would like to have a conference to share thoughts about sound and audiovisual archives in the 21st century. How do we imagine the archives in the future? Which will be the main characteristics that they need to have to continue preserving the heritage?

We invite presentations that explore three main concepts: open-ness, sustainability and equality. We would like to hear the ideas, projects and professional experiences from our community to imagine and build archives for the future. Let us think together about the future of archives by participating in the IASA Conference 2022.

The conference will be held in México City at the Institute for Research in Librarianship and Information (IIBI) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and National Phonotheque of Mexico. We are glad to meet you face-to-face or online.

For those presenting online, we intend to provide a virtual platform that gives presenters a choice of either live-streamed videos or pre-recorded videos. Live and pre-recorded presentations will be made available online according to the published schedule.

In line with the theme for 2022, attendees will be able to participate in significant portions of the conference remotely, since we will provide online access to those who are not able to attend in person. We are hopeful that the pandemic will subside sufficiently to allow a safe in-person conference, though changes to the conference format might be unavoidable if the epidemiological situation does not improve. Any changes will be announced here.

Proposals for conference presentations on the following topics are invited:

A. Open versus restricted access
B. Metadata and curatorial access process
C. AI and open access
D. Sustainable archives
D. Equitable and ethical archives
E. Digital preservation and the digital life cycle
F. Migration and digitization
G. Research and dissemination
H. Digital content management
I. Community and indigenous archives

Please submit your proposal by completing the form here, before 31 March 2022
