|
For the past few years the IASA Executive Board has tried to encourage members to participate more in the work of the Association, especially by running for the Board. The lack of financial support from member's institutions has become very challenging.

This year, the current term of IASA Board Members expires and elections are due. The Election Committee has been active in composing a slate of candidates for the Board Elections 2008.

Membership Dues have Increased |
|
The IASA Membership fees have not been increased since 2000. Since then, operating costs, and our ambitions, have grown. The IASA membership agreed to an increase of the Membership dues during the 2007 Annual Conference in Riga.

CCAAA meets in Paris |
|
The Coordinating Council of Audio Visual Archives Associations (CCAAA) held its annual meeting in Paris on March 14, 2008. President Richard Green and Secretary-General Gunnel Jönsson attended on behalf of IASA.

IASA represented at EDLnet |
|
Since 1997, the European National Libraries have been striving for a closer co-operation over a network, starting first with a joint web portal and giving then step by step also access to at least digital collections of the major national libraries. Albrecht Häfner represented IASA at a recent European Digital Library thematic network meeting.

VIDEO ACTIVE is a research project funded by the e ContentPlus programme of the European Commission with a lifespan of three years (2006 – 2009). The major aim is to create access to European TV archives fort academic and educational purposes.

NFSA becomes Statutory Authority |
|
Legislation to establish the Australian National Film and Sound Archive as an independent statutory authority passed through the Australian Parliament in February and received the royal assent on 20 March 2008. The NFSA Act will fully come into force on 1 July. Ray Edmondson reports...

iPRES 2008: Call for Papers |
|
The British Library is hosting the Fifth International Conference on Preservation of Digital Objects (iPRES 2008) at Conference Centre in St Pancras on 20 & 20 September 2008. The event is one of the major conferences in the digital preservation calendar and attracts around 250 delegates from around the world and 50 speakers.

Media in Motion: The Challenge of Preservation in the Digital Age |

The DOCAM (Documentation and Conservation of the Media Arts Heritage) Research Alliance and Media@McGill invite submissions of abstracts for the presentation of papers at the inaugural Media in Motion Symposium. Submissions related to the conference theme, ”The Challenge of Preservation in the Digital Age,” are strongly encouraged.
